Dunfermline Chess Club - For the members

The club runs 4 main competitions as detailed below and all members may participate but it is not mandatory to enter all, or even any, competition if a member prefers simply to play friendly games.

Club Championship
This is an all-play-all tournament.  Colours are decided by lot on the night.
The time control for this competition will be 30 moves in one hour, followed by a 15 minute allegro finish.

Under 1500 Championship
This runs inside the Club Championship at the same time control with the title going to the player graded under 1500 with the most points gained by the end of March, regardless of the number of games played.

Allegro
The allegro is also an all play all . It is designed to give players the opportunity to play 2 or 3 quicker games in an evening whilst retaining an element of competitiveness.
The time control for the allegro is 15 minutes per player for all moves.

Knockout
This is run over a single evening and is played at 5 minute per person per game time control.
Each round will be the “best of three”, players drawing for colour in the 1st and 3rd games. In the event of a tie sudden-death 5 minute games will be played until a decision is reached. (this tournament is NOT graded)
